Our sustainability vision is grounded in our values: integrity, innovation, and a commitment to positive impact. These principles serve as the North Star directing our decisions and aspirations.

We design and manufacture products that not only look and feel good, but are also better for the environment than other conventional alternatives. However, we are the first ones to say that CACTO is not perfect.

While we invest and make efforts to procure innovative materials that offer sustainability benefits while delivering top-tier performance, we also use conventional materials that are critical to a functional purpose. We often have to make decision on materials and processes taking into account a variety of factors. We always choose the options that would result in the best quality and lowest environmental impact posible. One of our promises to our community is our commitment to durability; no product is sustainable if it falls into pieces within one year.

It must also be noted that sustainability is not a question of either environmental protection or social justice, but of resolving the relationship between the two. Addressing both is vital to creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all. Equitable economic empowerment is a critical concern of ours. Hence, we have established partnerships with small family owned studios in Guadalajara, Mexico, to manufacture our products in a clean and ethical manner.

We are small but our determinations is great. We are determined to be a force for positive change in our business category and inspire other actors in the space to help transform the industry. Our mission is as clear as ever: to help accelerate the transition of our industry to a zero carbon model and secure a nature positive future for people and the planet.

Packaging

Our shipping boxes for medium or large size products are 200# test boxes, which means that the box can withstand pressure of up to 200 lbs per square inch before bursting. These boxes are sturdy and we recommend you use them to store your CACTO product when you are not using it. Our shipping boxes for small size products are made of 100% recycled cardboard.

Reusing the box to keep your product safe, extends their lifetime, reduces the product's material footprint (because we don't have to make another box), reduces waste/energy usage, and saves you money. Furthermore, we have specific boxes for each product, which means we reduce CO2 emission by minimizing volume and weight. 

 

Nature-Based Carbon Removal

We actively support Nature-Based Carbon Removal efforts by protecting and restoring forests to offset the GHG emissions that we can't avoid in our business operation. Learn more here.

 

Materials

Cactus Leather

As you probably know by now, our main material is cactus leather which has significant environmental benefits over synthetic PVC leather and its animal counterparts - not to mention that it is cruelty-free - and is even more sustainable than other plant based alternatives. 

 

100% Bamboo fiber 

Bamboo fiber is antibacterial, bacteriostatic, hygroscopic, permeable, smooth, soft, and ultraviolet-proof. 

• GREEN AND BIODEGRADABLE

Bamboo fiber is 100% made from bamboo through a high-tech process. As a natural cellulose fiber, it can be completely biodegraded in soil by microorganism and sunshine. The decomposition process doesn’t cause any pollution to the environment.

• NATURAL AND ANTIBACTERIAL

Bamboo fiber has particular and natural functions of anti-bacteria, bacteriostatic, and deodorization. As validated by the Japan Textile Inspection Association, even after fifty times of washing, bamboo fiber fabric still possesses excellent function of anti-bacteria and bacteriostatic.

• BREATHABLE AND COOL

Bamboo fiber boasts advantages of breathability and coolness. According to authoritative testing figures, textiles made from bamboo fibers are 1-2 Celsius degrees lower in temperature than normal textiles in hot summer. 

 

Bamboo Linen

We use Bamboo Linen (50% Bamboo - 50% Cotton) to make our duster bags- handcrafted, as well of course. This material is soft, hypoallergenic, and antibacterial. The perfect material to protect our items.
