Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, the United Nations outlined a bold vision for a better world. Dubbed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the framework included 17 goals for progress, and 169 specific targets. They go from ending global poverty, to building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions.

While it is true that those in positions of power have a great responsibility to act, we are in an all-hands-on-deck situation and we must contribute to achieving the SDGs. After all, we are all in the same boat. Our lives are all connected. We all breathe the same air.

Actors in the fashion business have a critical role to play. We are talking about a $1.7 trillion-dollar global industry that employs approximately 300 million people across the value chain, many of whom are women in the Global South.

We fully acknowledge that as a small business our impact is not as great as we wish it could be. But we are not deterred and are focused on what we can do. No action is too small to help tackle the climate crisis, to improve ethical work conditions, or to promote peaceful and inclusive societies where everyone can thrive. We are committed to doing our part and more to help achieve the UN's SDGs, and encourage you to learn more and do your part too.

Walking The Talk

Our founder has been working on climate action for a decade. Pictured here at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat in Bonn, Germany, during the Climate Change Conference COP23 in 2017.

"The danger posed by climate change is unparalleled in its scale and potential for disruption, and represents an existential threat to humanity. We must accelerate the transition to a zero carbon economy and reach global carbon neutrality before midcentury. It is imperative that we decouple social development from environmental degradation if we are to succeed at avoiding the worst impacts of a warming planet. No action is too small. We all have a role to play in tackling the climate crisis. It is imperative that we take rapid and unprecedented action now".

BELOW ARE SOME OF THE WAYS WE CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THE SDGs:

Climate Action

We are committed to minimizing our CO2 emissions, and have built partnerships to continuously remove carbon from the environment.

Cactus leather is a biomaterial derived from Mexican cactus that produces 80% less emissions than real leather. Additionally, we are continuously researching materials that would allow us to further reduce our carbon footprint.

Furthermore we actively engage in forest protection and restoration. Forests are the most effective carbon sinks in existence today, and we are proud to support verified projects worldwide.

No Poverty

Our global reforestation efforts have contributed to economic opportunities, food security, disaster recovery, and sustainable farming practices, all of which create a clear path to eradicating cycles of poverty.

Decent Work & Economic Growth

Equitable economic empowerment is a critical concern of ours. Therefore, we have partnered with small family owned studios in Guadalajara, Mexico, to manufacture our products in a clean and ethical manner.

We are supporting the well paid employment of dozens of skilled artisans and contributing to the well-being of their families.

Industry, Innovation, & Infrastructure

We are committed to promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial processes in the fashion sector, and to foster innovation and the development of green technology.

We vote with our wallet and support businesses that manufacture innovative and sustainable supplies and products.

Responsible Consumption & Production

Innovation and design solutions can both enable and inspire individuals to lead more sustainable lifestyles, reducing impacts, and improving well-being.

We offer an alternative to the public that is more sustainable than conventional options in the market such as articles made of animal leather or PVC.

Furthermore, we encourage our customers to reduce waste and to make informed purchasing decisions in every aspect of their lives.

Life on Land

Forests are home to 80% of the world’s biodiversity. Planting trees is a great way to regenerate and expand the world’s forest resources while protecting the planet’s ecosystems.
